Trick or Treating

Trick or treating for William was a complete success!! It took him a little while to warm up but once he realized he got candy out of the deal, he was all over it. We were walking up to one house and I looked down to see an entire Reeses peanut butter cup stuffed in his mouth! I was the child who would save candy for weeks, nibbling here and there, savoring every last bite. Not William! His motto...git er done! So in the midst of his sugar high, I was somehow able to sneak those Mickey ears on his head and, y'all, he kept them on for at least 10 minutes! People, we had a mini Mickey Mouse on our hands!! :) And, of course, while the ears were on, we got a few comments about how cute "she" looked! Are you kidding me??!! Mickey is the boy...Minnie is the girl... a dress or bow was not involved in this costume! Anyway, you know who [the hubs], did not like those comments one bit so he took the ears off. Bummer, back to answering questions like... "Now, what are you dressed up as tonight?"

Our attempt at getting him to wear the ears...before the sugar high.

Wearing his ears!!! :) Woo Hoo!!!!!!!

I want CANDY!!!

I got CANDY!!!

I didn't know how the night would end with all that sugar in him but he slept great!

Happy Halloween!!!

The Cowboy Birthday Party

The big birthday party was Saturday! I had so much fun planning this party. I started surfing [did I really just say "surfing"] the web for birthday ideas a few months ago and came across a picture of a little boy eating his smash cake with a bandana tied around his neck. SOLD...cowboy party for William! :) Here are some pics from the big day...

William was actually sleeping in the pack 'n play in my closet [we had family in town...don't worry, there is an air vent in the closet!]. Not only did he miss half the party but I wasn't able to get my "party clothes" out of the closet before he went down. So I was sporting the work out shorts...for half the party! :)

I love that I have two phones and the monitor in my hands!

A few of the details...

We did a lot of playing...

And eating...

And more playing...

We tried getting a kids shot...

We ate cake...

And the birthday boy had more fun with the wrapping paper and tissue than his presents! :)

What a special day for my little William!!!

My Buckaroo turned ONE!!!

It's been a long time and I'm finally posting!!! Let me say...it's been hectic in the Haddox household!

To make a long story short...

We got sick. We had a birthday. We got sicker. We had a birthday party. We got sick AGAIN!

So here goes...

My poor little man started running a fever Sunday morning [his birthday was Monday]. So we actually went to the doctor on his birthday. So not fun!!! And for the 14th time [not really the 14th but sure felt like it] we were told to wait it out...everything looks good. WHY?!?!?!?!? But that nasty fever did not hold us back from celebrating his special day!!!

We started the day off with a doughnut and the happy birthday song! Tiny confession...I went to the dentist early Monday morning and on the way home picked up doughnuts for the birthday boy. There is just something funny about getting doughnuts after you've been to the dentist. Here's the birthday boy with his doughnut...

And we didn't stop with the doughnut...After dinner, he also got a cupcake! And boy did he tear into that cupcake!!! I think it's safe to say he's a chocolate lover...just like his mamma!

He's not looking under the weather at this point. It really started going downhill on Tuesday. Let's just say I went through a bottle of infant tylenol last week! Yeah, it was a rough couple of days.

Went back to the doctor Wednesday and, because his birthday party was Saturday, she gave him a shot and put him on meds. Wednesday night I was praising the Lord for modern medicine! And by Saturday, my little man was back in business and ready to P-A-R-T-Y! He did sleep through half his party! ha! [poor guy...he was still recovering from a week of sleepless nights!] The birthday party was an absolute blast! The weather was perfect, Sam's pulled through once again with their precooked brisket :), we had cupcakes, cowboy hats, cold lemonade and strawberry Abita. I am so thankful for the wonderful people in our lives...the fellowship could not have been any sweeter! I went to sleep Saturday night [completely exhausted] with a very full heart.

And guess who woke up Sunday morning with no voice...ME!!!!

Here's the birthday boy... Oh, I could just eat him up!!! :)

William, 11 months

My sweet baby boy was officially 11 months old last week! He is almost a year old and I really can't believe it!

Where to start...I feel like he is changing every day. Curious would have to be the word of the month. He is into everything!!! Exploring the house, opening drawers, opening and closing doors, destroying magazines, getting stuck in between furniture, one adventure after another. He is a master crawler...sticking with the traditional way of getting around on all fours. He's pulling up and walking around the coffee table, the couch, his train table. Hasn't tried to stand up on his own yet.

I feel like we have been teething for the past three months but they're all starting to breakthrough...finally!

He started saying ma-ma this month. It mostly comes out when he is in distress [which makes me laugh], but it still melts my heart. He babbles and talks and talks and talks. He also started saying uh-oh but it sounds more like uh-argh!

William mastered the fake cough months ago but he has recently started using a fake laugh. He'll be in the room with us and we start laughing at someone and William will start laughing right along with us. It's cute but so fake!

He's never been a fan of rocking with me but he's starting to warm up to it. I was rocking him one night [he actually seemed to be enjoying it] and he reached up and tried to put the nunni in my mouth! Let's just hope the sharing attitude continues into toddler-hood! :) [wishful thinking]

William has always been a lover of all food...ok, not all but most! :) Not anymore...if he doesn't like it...he spits it out. Oh, and he loves doing motor-boat with a mouthful of food. I try really really hard not to laugh but it's pretty funny. He's trying all sorts of things these days...pretty much whatever I'm eating. He thoroughly enjoyed a bowl of lasagna my mom made last week.

We have battled a lot of sickness this month but we're on the up...after antibiotics and breathing treatments...it was just a matter of waiting it out.

I still can't believe how quickly this year went by!!!

Baby Dedication

Yesterday, Adam and I stood before our church to dedicate William to the Lord. It was a very special day for us!

My prayer for William from the moment we found out I was pregnant was to raise him to fall in love with Jesus Christ. And understand how great God's love is for him! It is incredibly comforting to know we have a body of believers standing behind us in this great adventure of raising kids.

One thing is for sure, William doesn't have stage fright...I think he would have a given a sermon of his own had it not been for the nunni. [again and again, nunni to the rescue!] He did manage to get out a few of those excited screams. He was as happy as we were about the dedication! :)

It was also a blessing to be standing by one of my very best friends as she dedicated her sweet boy to the Lord. I LOVE knowing they'll be growing up in the church together...going to youth group and retreats, Sunday school and lock-in's. Learning about who God is and his plan for their lives.

Even in the pouring rain, we had a wonderful day!!!

William, 10 months

My sweet little boy was 10 months on Friday. It’s hard to believe how fast this year is going by! [I’m about to have a one year old!!!!!!! WHAT?!?!?] We go to the doctor next week and I’m curious to see all his stats.

[We've had a very cold week so it was nice to get outside this weekend!]

Our two big accomplishments this month…crawling and clapping! He is everywhere and into everything…he is so curious!!! I can’t leave him alone for 5 seconds or something “not for William” is in his mouth…He is WAY more interested in my toys than his! Majorly time to baby proof! :) He just started clapping last week. There is just something so cute about babies clapping…oh, I love it!

[finding the leaf]
[eating the leaf]
[literally taking a bite out of the leaf] :)

William is still a master napper! [for the most part] He’s taking two really good naps a day. Now, sleeping through the night is another story. I’ll just leave it at that. :) But he loves his naps and he loves to eat. He’s eating mostly baby food but he’s also eating bananas, sweet potato and avocado.  Oh, and how could I forget puffs…we love puffs in the Haddox household.

“Toys” of choice these days are Tupperware containers and my keys [this really grosses me out but he loves to play with them]. He babbles and giggles and coos and screams [the excited scream] more than ever. Still holding out for ma-ma. He loves making messes all over the house; it’s so fun watching him explore!

[time for a nap]

There is nothing in this world like being a mom! I thank God every day for this precious blessing.

Man on the move

William is a CRAWLER!!! It's so funny to me how I would crawl on the floor with him and prop him up on all fours but every time he would fall on his belly and kick those legs. [I am still predicting he'll be swimmer!] And then one day he crawled a few steps and within days he is ALL over the place. I am trying to remind myself why I wanted him crawling him so badly! :) HA! Gone are days of getting the laundry out of the dryer to find him sitting just where I left him. Hello are the days of finding tiny pieces of glass, cardboard, rubber band, you name it in his hands and going into his mouth.

I didn't do a happy 9 months William so here's the latest...

His stats this month...24 pounds & 29 1/2 inches long! (in the 90th% for height & weight)

[Sporting his sunglasses on Christmas morning!]

He is also pulling up in his crib! I love walking in his room to see that smiling face. I do not love walking in there at 3:00 a.m. because he's standing and he can't get down. [really hoping he figures this "getting down" thing out quickly] But he's getting lots of practice because he is pulling up on everything within reach!

He plays with his toys which is fun for both of us. For a while there, I felt like I was playing with his toys more than him. And sometimes I think he would rather play with computer wires and the mail than any of his toys. :)

He screams [an excited scream, that is] whenever he sees other children, gags when I feed him soft solids [except bananas], Da-Da is his word of choice [still holding out for Ma-Ma], LOVES to bang things together, takes two great naps during the day but still isn't the best sleeper at night, he laughs & giggles, waves his hands in the air, overall a good natured, content child!

[This is his excited scream...playing with his cousin Evie over Christmas!]

LOVE HIM & he's almost 10 months...CRAZY!!!

Happy 2011!!!

8 Months

Yesterday, William turned 8 months old.
At his last doctor's appointment he was 21.8 pounds but I am pretty sure he has gained a little. I can no longer carry him in the car seat carrier. Thankfully, I have an umbrella stroller...don't know what I would do without it! :)

[hmmmm, I'm getting big!]

It's official, I've got a social butterfly on my hands. It doesn't matter where we are...Wal-Mart or the post office, he LOVES any kind of attention! He lights up when people talk to him, he'll give a big grin to anyone willing to share a few words, and he'll kick his feet if he really likes you! He happily goes to just about anyone.

He is a big fan of the great outdoors. Whether we're on a walk, swinging at the park, or just laying on a blanket in the backyard, he is happiest when outside. He is also very happy in the bathtub. The moment he gets in the tub, those little legs start kicking!

He doesn't roll over much during "play" time but as soon as I put him in the crib, he is all over the place. He somehow manages to turn in complete circles and go from tummy to back and back to tummy while in his crib. It's always a mystery where he will be when he wakes up from his nap! :) William is not the best sleeper but I am hoping that just means he's like me and doesn't need a lot of sleep! :) [He still hasn't totally adjusted to the time change...we were up at 5 am today and yesterday and the day before that.] He does take great naps. [that probably has something to do with not sleeping great at night]

Baby boy loves to eat. I've introduced some soft solids but he's not real into it just yet! [lots of gagging and it stresses both of us out :)] But he is all about the baby food! He enjoys time in his exersaucer and the bouncy horse and it doesn't matter what toy I give him, he'll find the tag [if it has one] and suck on that. Still waiting on ma-ma. Babbling consists of da-da and tis and his screams [talking screams not crying screams...but both are very loud! :)]

The first photo session with the giraffe didn't really work out...he not only has remnants of food all over his face but he was also in desperate need of a nap! :) The second photo session went a little better. He's starting to move a lot more so taking these cute little pics is getting difficult.

Happy 8 Months William! We love you lots and lots!!
